Silver Crow Project

Works in Progress...

We have a poorly house here today. Devvie has been throwing up most of the night and today, every time she does Phoebe goes into floods of tears with worry and Ruby is just running around making full use of the chaos to cause even more.

OK, so after the many disbelieving comments last WOYWW I wanted to show you I'm not just laying across my desk kissing it and admiring it. This is a post to prove I have been working on my shiny new desk - this is what it looked like yesterday, it's even worse now as I'm tidying my shelves today in-between sick bucket runs. The mouse on top of the paper kinda gives me away. Yup I always end up surfing while I am crafting - in this case catching up on the comps, I entered dozens of True Blood DVD competitions. *sigh* Bill *drool* If I win a couple Paige - watch your letterbox.

I've spent most of yesterday on and off scratching the dodgy paint effect off these coasters - it looks like it's been snowing on my desk - either that or I have seriously bad dandruff. You'll see why, soon.

Thanks for stopping by as always :)

WOYWW already?

Still quite tidy all round - most unlike me, it's very unsettling ;) That will all change this week - I'm in the mood to make things!I do have some flowers that are on their last legs but I don't have the heart to throw them away. They've done well - the yellow and purple ones were part of a bouquet we bought midway through September for my Mums birthday...
...and a rather scrumptious little bundle of fabric and a quilt pattern that I won from the Cherry House Quilts blog. Am getting so addicted to fabric - am going to have to get that sewing machine looked at soon so I can actually make stuff instead of just admiring and stroking the fabrics. Thanks for stopping by my desk - time to make the necessary cuppa before I return the visit!

Don't Try This At Home Folks

So Craig is at work. Time to get out the Christmas present he got me last year. Don't get me wrong I love my DS dearly apart from one tiny little thing...It's pink!

So after a quick rub down to get any grubby fingerprints off I set about attacking the outside with alcohol inks. Copious amounts of alcohol inks. Ooodles and oodles of alcohol inks. The result being...Yes. Well. I think we can safely say after my many, many failed project attempts with this stuff and after much consideration they are, perhaps, not for me.

Thank blimming goodness it's easily removable with a little (lot) of alcohol blending solution.Phew! And yes I've checked it over - none got into the workings which I did only think about as I was merrily splodging 2 bottles of ink on at the same time looking all Masterchef-like (in my head anyway!) So DS is again safely tucked away in my desk drawer.

Still Pink.

What do you think?

Decoupage it?

;)

WOY(brand new and shiny)WW

Good morning WOYWWers. I'm afraid this post is rather long and picture heavy... but let me just say... *squeak* It's up!
Look at all this glorious space to work on...Craig has been my hero this week. He's decorated the back room. He dropped that big desk top on his foot! (He said "ouch!" or words very similar to that effect. Ahem!) He's assembled my desk more or less on his own, well he might have been better on his own for all the help I was.

And he is even going to give up his pride and joy - the dining table - because my desk is so big we can no longer get round it. I even had to take these pictures sitting on the table as there is literally no room now. I swear it didn't look so big in the mahoosive Ikea store. Oops. So we are on the hunt for a smaller, perhaps drop down table. This is a very big thing. I think I have mentioned before how possessive Craig is of the table and how it must always be craft/art free so he can polish it every night....giving up your table so your girlfriend can have an ENORMOUS work desk.
But he wasn't completely unhelped in assembling said wonderous desk, oh no. Allow me to introduce Lucy :)She was fascinated by it all but kept getting her nose just a *little* bit to close.
Answers to some questions I've had -

The wire pigeon on top of my printer - this was a present I had made for Craig last Christmas by Sparkflight, a super talented Etsy seller. She fashioned it completely from a photo of one of Craigs Dark Assasins (one of his fastest pigeons that he was breeding at the time) and it actually has one of his racing rings on it's leg. So far it's been stuck on my craft shelves out of Rubys reach - now we can finally enjoy it :)

The large picture is of my Mum, all my sisters and me. It was the first time we had all been together in the same place in decades, four of us live locally but one of my sisters lives in Scotland and one in Canada. It was also the last time together before Mum passed away.

Last WOYWW I was asked what this egg was on my shelves. This was my Christmas present from one of my sisters last year. It's a porcelain/china money box. I save my £1 a day towards art stash in it... usually to spend at Alexandra Palace but I have been known to break in when needs must.

So. Now I have to get my bum into gear and finish tidying my shelves and then I can PLAY!
Cup of tea first and a visit to all your workdesks ;) See you soon.

Bette the Button Fairy

Whoopidooings - Carmen Wing - Bette Davis Button FairyI'm pretty sure it was Debbie who introduced me to Button Dolls. I made Bette a while ago now and turned her into a fridge magnet. However she was getting a bit dusty and grubby and where I only used thin fuse wire to bind her together she was getting a bit wobbly bless her.

So last night I got a paint brush and some water, tidied her up a bit, brushed her down and got out my new bottle of Glossy Accents. Can you believe I've never used it before? I can't. I'm in love. I will need to stock up - I can see me Glossy Accenting everything in sight! Though not so much the accenting as the thick layering over anything that doesn't move.
Whoopidooings - Carmen Wing - Bette Davis Button FairyThis is Bette today - A lot sturdier, the GA has certainly stopped her being so shoogly and her wings have a lovely sheen now... somehow over the course of time her body/tail has switched sides. But I still love her just as much today as when I first made her which is why she had to be rescued from a certain dusty doom. Craig has suggested I make more as decorative hangers... he may have something there. I'm seeing lots of festive Alice's. What do you reckon? I think he may come to regret his suggestion.

They are so easy to make and so addictive. Mine was bound together with fuse wire and I just used buttons and oddments already in my stash as well as a printed photo off the internet. Her wings are made from rub-ons on acetate. I've just done a quick search and found this pretty cool tutorial which even incorporates a loopy bit at the top to form a hanger.

Devvie - always one for a short-cut - decided wire was to fiddly and made this one by sticking the buttons straight down on paper. I loved the end result and was most gutted when she sent it off as part of a Circle Journal entry.
Whoopidooings - Button Seahorse
I'm hoping by WOYWW I'll be able to show you my new craft area - all depending on Craig's patience and how annoyed he gets with assemblage. The boxes have moved though, one of them is even in the back room with me here!! Yay!

Thank you for stopping by :)
