So here is my desk today. It was such a lovely day, I was outside. Try to contain your jealousy at my sad little table which is VERY shabby and not at all chic at the moment. And try not to gasp in awe at my highly cultivated weeds, taken me years to get them this big!
It's a bit tidier than it was earlier, I was despairing of the camera ever coming home so had started to bring everything back in.I've been painting lace today - as you do. The lace was cream, I wanted it black and red and sparkly purple. The weight holding the bits down is just that - a weight to stop them blowing away and smacking an unsuspecting passer-by in the moosh with a wet painty lacey splat. Might leave a nice pattern but don't think they would be to pleased - and I would be miffed at losing the lace.
The yellow thing is a piece of lace card stock (I forget the proper name?) I've used it over and over as a stencil/mask. It's getting some gorgeous colour-way effects on the other side of it now - I may have to actually use it as an embellishment soon and buy a new bit as a fresh stencil/mask. I've certainly had my money's worth out of that sheet.
If you fancy joining us for our weekly rummage through the desks of the world, make sure and head on over to Head Girl Julia's page and linky up so we can all find you.
Thanks as always for stopping by :)
What?? Show my desk? No one needs to see that! lol. I don't have a desk, I have a tv tray that holds my books and the other half of the couch holds my pencils, colored pencils, sketch books, or whatever I'm currently working on. LOL.
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up too. Love the 'weeds'!
What a fabulous idea to be crafting in the garden. I like the idea of that. What weeds?I bet I can beat you on weed amounts in the garden.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean Carmen - about YOUR camera LOL - Sometimes I lend MY camera to my DD and every single time there is something I wanted to take a photo off - Thankful that she has bought her own camera now while she is staying in Canada for the summer. Loved your post and photo.
ReplyDeleteYou always have fab crafting to show and tell :-)

great idea - painting lace - I am sure Wipso would have just what you need in her stash!!
ReplyDeleteSee, I think it would have been funny to allow said camera thief to get planted with painty lace! But that's just me :) xx
ReplyDeleteI love the thought of the lace smacing someone splat in the gob!! That lace is looking good - for what - or is it too early to say? And why has only one bottle got tape wrapped around it...?
ReplyDeleteLove the lace, and that table is ripe for altering!
ReplyDeleteLove the painted lace. Never mind about late posting, I'm pretty late getting round!
ReplyDeleteLOL I just laughed when I read about your dog LOL falling LOL. About my geeses I did make them. And I´m not always so calm with my dog, sometimes I almost scream :)
ReplyDeleteLove the snoop on your desk Carmen. You would have needed that camera to take pic of unsuspecting passer-by's lace painted face! *Ü*
ReplyDeleteA girl has to do what a girl has to do....if it ain't the right colour - paint it! *Ü* LOL. TFS. ~Glen~
Just how much mess could you make on a table that size? And you needn't have mentioned the weeds, they're not showing up much ;-)

re: no cost do it for free challenge I'd say use your own judgement but I'm gonna try to use very basic things tools and bits, I suppose if I use embroidery floss it's okay for paints too...regarding SuziBlu, I did goddess & poets, i've done angels, I'm doing piety and passion, and I intend doing the two petit dolls courses, I think she is excellent value for money especially as you get to download and keep the videos - and her art advice is sound, she will enable you to relearn/learn basics as well as teach you some really quite advanced techniques and I am very happy with the results, but THE best bit ( i think) is the student art - some of it makes the hair on my neck stand on end....send me a friend invite if you decide to join....ps If you are UK based I an using faber castel polychromics and my mate bought the other ones Suzi recommends - and I honestly prefer the faber castel....
ReplyDeleteLove the round and stashy table !!
ReplyDeletegawd, how dare he??? I do believe we need a WOYWW committee to draw up a set of wednesday rules that can be printed out and given to husbands.
ReplyDeleteI had to giggle at the thought of wet flappy lace blowing about lol
awww I am jealous it is cloudy and looking like it is going to rain here, and I love your little crafty table :)
ReplyDeleteCreating in the sun sounds great! I can see your art journal under the tub of paints, cant wait to see what else you have painted for CBC.
ReplyDeleteLoving the round table of stashy stuff! S x
ReplyDeleteCarmen, I'm sitting looking out the window at the exact same table :) Only mine doesn't have any exotic looking lace on it. You are always up to something interesting!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely little workspace!
ReplyDeleteGood idea getting outside in this lovely weather

we are definately soul sisters, I laughed and laughed at your antics with electricals - your right - we must NEVER - NEVER- be in the same room at the same time...
ReplyDeleteDx
you're ( sorry I'm tired and the typos creep in...)
ReplyDeleteDidn't do WOYWW this week but have poped by a few friends to have a nose. It took me ages to click that any white lace could be changed by paint, ink and glimmer mist (Vicki worked that one out) ...all those hours hunting for the right shade ...doh
ReplyDeletePeople should remember that most weeds are just flowers in the wrong place.... I have neglected most of my garden over the past couple of years and this year some amazing plants have appeared ...no idea of the names ...Last year we aquired wonderful budlea bushes that attracted so many butterflies ...my thanks to the bird or wind that deposited the seed some time back ...no one should laugh at us cultivators of weeds lol xx
All great crafters grow weeds hun, we don't have the time to garden :0)
